shopping.

Hi my name is Von, and I don't wear a size 12.

Nice to meet you.

I have really been struggling the past few weeks with my size.  Not because I can't live with it, because I can.  I am starting to notice the trend...they don't make cute clothes in my size.

Just because I am not a size 12 doesn't mean that I don't want to look stylish and cute...apparently the stores didn't get that memo.

My shopping nightmares started a few weeks ago.  I went to Down East, and realized that X-Large doesn't fit me there, and that was if I could even find an X-Large on their shelves.  If that doesn't scream "Hey, big girls...we don't want you in our cute clothes!"  I don't know what does.

I headed to American Eagle, because that place is still cool...I think?  After much hunting I couldn't find one pair of shorts, pants,  or capris in my size.  No big deal, right.  It didn't really upset me....UNTIL I found out they carry my size online.  If that doesn't scream "Hey, big girls...shop online, because we are too embarrassed to have you in our store, but we would love to have your money!" I don't know what does.

I have heard good things about Kohl's, and as a last effort I decided I would go look there.  I searched and couldn't find my size in the department I was in.  I asked the cute little sales girl if they had "bigger" sizes, and she lead me in the right direction.  I almost bawled.  There I was standing in the plus size section where my 90 grandma would be found.  I was surrounded my elastic waist slacks, and stretch pants.  I came home and looked at Kohl's online, and found more of a selection...and then kinda got offended that they even sell "plus size jewelry".  What does that mean?  Should I be wearing different earings to make me look thinner?

I had high hopes for wearing nice clothes this summer, but I guess I will be sticking to Old Navy and Target for this Summer season.

Blarg.

PS Do not even bring up going to Lane Bryant {I am not my Mother!}.  Do not bring up going to Torrid {I am not a hooker}.  Do not bring up going to Sears {It was a stretch for me to shop at Kohl's}.  The End.

I had a hard time finding clothes that fit at Downeast. I was a size 12 and fairly busty since I just had a baby and was nursing and I could not find a single thing to fit there...even in the x-large. I feel your pain. It seems like all clothes are getting smaller and smaller but the American trend is that humans are getting bigger and bigger...doesn't quite make sense.

I feel your pain. Although I was able to find some cute shorts in the non-grandma section at Kohl's. But, I have to say that Lane Bryant has come a LONG way... They do have some stylish clothes...
I LOVE Down East but my last 2 experiences there have made me want to take my business elsewhere.. Just sayin..

Plus size jewelry? Oh, barf. That's just dumb. I like Down East just fine but being surrounded by size 0 sales girls just does not make me feel good.

I buy the occasional pretty dress at 'sealed with a kiss' in USA. The dress I get most complemented on came from there. And shoot me, but I got some seriously cute stuff at Layne Bryant when I was in USA last May! And I need plus sized jewellery, bracelets won't go over my hands lol.

Down East runs small, so don't feel bad! I'm a 10/12, and because of my chest, I usually have to get an XXL dress from them. 12 should not be XXL!!

I get a lot of dresses and things at JC Pennys. You might try them. But I love Target! I think they have such great clothes.

I do have to say... my most favorite capris, ever, came from Torrid. I bought them about 3 or 4 years ago on the clearance rack and wear them constantly. They still feel new. Best pair of pants I have ever owned. They don't even fall off!! (miracle right there!)

I haven't convinced myself to go in there since.

I haaaate lane bryant. the few things i have bought, fell apart within a couple months.

Well, wherever you already shop, you always look cute so stick with that! Love your sidebar pic by the way. Very pretty!

AMEN A MILLION TIMES!!!! IT IS SO FRUSTRATING!!! I'm a Target fan too but my sister and I also love Maurice's. Just don't go to the Jordan Landing store because they tailer to the size 0. The best one I've ever been to is the one in Brigham City (not that you want to drive that far haha). I don't mind shopping online at Maurices since there is a local store I can return things to easily.

Your "P.S." had me laughing out loud. I love my Evonne!

Yea I have pretty much hated shopping lately. I swear the mirrors at the store make you look worse than in real life. . . . or maybe it's just that I look better in my own head. ;)

By the way, LOVE your pictures.

I really hate shopping for me, and it shows. I'd much rather buy cute clothes for my kids. I always see "bigger" gals looking so cute, but I can't ever find anything. On a side note, I had a lady at work randomly tell me yesterday that I should really "work on myself" this summer. I would feel so much better if I just lost 40 lbs. Seriously cried...now where is a cookie?

Evonne!!! I LOVE YOU! I said AMEN when I read this. Guess what Fashion World.... there are hot, stylish, plus-size girls out there that care about their looks and like to visit the current trends!

So... if I had about 10 hours more in every day, I would start my own fasion line. Because I know what girls like me want and need. And... just because I'm not a size 12... I'm not frumpy and boring. And... I definitely don't like elastic in my waistband like my grandma!

Until then, I guess I'll have to settle for Maurice's and Lane Bryant. But... someday...!!!

NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER go back to Down East. They suck. And XXl is like a Medium. Don't even walk in there, it is a joke. I hate them. And anyway, you show up to church and everyone and their dog has their skirts on.

MAURICE'S!!!!!!!!!!! I love them. There are two sides to the store and they are both equally as cute. You won't be discouraged.

And Penney's (yes, I call it Penney's like an old woman) and Macy's. There you go.
