Is anyone still there?
Are you listening?
Okay good...because I am only gonna say this once, and then I am movin' on!
Right after Vin was born I got this crazy idea I wanted to try an IUD. Don't know what an IUD is, click the link!
Looking back on the past year, all the pieces come together...if only I had listened to what my body was telling me sooner. The IUD was doing crazy things to my hormones. I didn't ask enough questions when I did go to the Doctor to "fix" me...and that made for a very long year of me being not-so-pleasant to be around!
Even when I was sitting in the office talking to the Doctor this past week, she was making me think that my suspicion was wrong. I was worried I would get this darn thing removed and still be a mess! Well, I am here to tell you...I WAS RIGHT! Over a week has gone by, and I feel amazing!
I smile, I giggle, I haven't cried...and my patience is mostly back!
I am ready to party, play, and show you the REAL me!
Holla.
post edit: In all my excitement to publish this post, I forgot the most shocking thing about the IUD. In the year I have had it in...I officially have gained 18+ pounds. Talk about depressing. That is the #1 side effect. :(

more power to you sister friend!
Welcome back!! So glad you're feeling better. It's amazing how seemingly little changes can have such a dramatic effect on us! Glad you're back to yourself :) love your smiling face :)
This is why I back when I used an IUD I went with the copper, and not the Mirena that has the hormones. After all, the whole reason why I wanted the IUD was so that I didn't have to ingest hormones that make me crazy. They tried to tell me that it was such a little dosage it wouldn't matter. BULL!
You were right and I was right.
glad you listened to yourself and got it out. I hope you continue to get feeling better.
Azucar...
Girl that is what they told me too...so little you won't notice. They didn't give me an option of the copper. Grrr.
Seriously i have a story for you....It's a Crazy one...and way too long to type!!! We need to chat one day...i am NEVER getting another IUD!!!! So glad you are back to normal :)
i love all versions of you.
but this is my favorite one... :)
I let my doc talk me into keeping mine and I knew it was the source of a lot of problems. THe only good thing about it was a lighter-to-nonexistant period.
It's good to trust your instincts. Go you!
I'm the same way with pretty much any form of hormonal birth control. Luckily I seem to make my own quite nicely. But I'm glad you're feeling like you again. Welcome back, in every aspect!
You know your body better than anyone. Good for you for listening to it!
I go back and forth abt getting another iud. My last one actually fell out on day. Kinda freaked me out! I am glad. Feel better. U are beautiful. We must meet in person one day!
I have heard this happening to so many people. Glad you are back and I stinkin love that shirt that you have on in your picture. LET'S PARTY!!!!
okay, who is that girl in the picture by my comment that I just made. what is happening?
I see the logo for your blog Callee...what picture do you see?
Nearly same situation for me when I had a Mirena. So glad it is out. There are other options for b/c.
BTW- You look gorgeous in that pic you posted- happy and smiling again!
Oh yay! So glad to hear you are back! Crazy what such a small thing can do to your entire persona...
Dang, gina. I've heard that those IUD's can be a total mood killer. My doctor said that out of the hundreds of IUD's he's put in, he's taken out 99% of Mirenas, but only taken out 1 or 2 of the Paraguard ones. Maybe that's an option? No hormones, the only bad thing I've heard is that it makes your cramps and periods a little heavier. So glad you're feeling better!
So happy you are back and feeling great!! I've done the copper iud before and didn't have a good experience with that one either.
Copper makes your periods extremely heavy and painful. But I didn't gain any weight and I ALWAYS gain weight if I use a hormonal option.
I loathe my experience with an IUD and you know when I think about it that is the heaviest I have ever been (in that year and half that I had an IUD)
I've always believed we know what's best when it comes to our bodies. Glad you got that sucker removed!
Ditto everything AzĂșcar said...
I had the Mirena and got it out because of hormone issues too and wouldn't you know it 9 months later Ty came. I didn't quite anticipate having it removed as the answer and so we had sex the night before and those little sperm can live through anything and as soon as they saw they opening they took it =)
I have the copper IUD now and yes my periods are HEAVY, heavy is almost an understatement but no hormones, no wacky feelings.
Glad you are back to yourself though.
woohoo- good for you, taking charge of you body!! Welcome back!!
I have the copper, as well. Yes, heavy so heavy flow but NO weird side effects other than that.
Mona-Kay definitely has a "fun" story about IUD's. Makes me nervous every time I think about it!
