Motherhood Maternity

Where do you buy your maternity clothes? After buying every style of shirt, pants, skirts, and capris at Target...I had to go to the dreaded Motherhood Maternity! Does anyone hate Motherhood Maternity as much as I do for these reasons?

Return policy. Seriously don't buy anything you aren't completely in love with. You have 10 days to decide, tags still must be on, and even then you only get instore credit. If you buy something on sale...it's final. If you buy a maternity belt, don't ever plan on returning that either.

Advertising. This weekend we went in to Motherhood Maternity, and they had a sign that said "Spend $75 get a $50 restaurant gift certificate". Paul talks to lady that is working, and confirms that you will just get a code to redeem it online. Easy enough, huh? I get my code, go to the website, only to find out it really isn't a gift card. It is a spend $25 or spend $35 at a restaurant...and then you can get $25 off or $10 off. That to me is not a gift card, that is a coupon.

Yes, I have a rawkin' new skirt...that I love. I have an orange shirt that was super cheap, because honestly who wears orange shirts...only me! I have a maternity belt that I could once find at Wal Mart, but now the only place I could find it was Motherhood Maternity. I can't say that I won't ever go back, but I hope that Target gets new stock in before I have to.

Have you tried Old Navy?

I only purchased a few things from their and seriously hated them. I wore the clothing still only because I was soooo huge and had nothing else to ware!

My cousin just had a crazy experience at one a few weeks ago with the whole return policy mess! They were so rude and hard to work with. They even called the cops on them. All they wanted to do was exchange an outfit, it was crazy!

I agree Target Rocks, Kamie bought me a few fun maternity shirts from there and I lOVED them! I did like old navy too, but they didn't have a very big selection back then.

I also had a lot of hand me down maternity clothing from some other cousins, they were sooo outdated. I hated them. I think you need fun comfy clothes that make you feel good this stage in life :)

Yes I dislike their return policy. After my first time I never went back in. Too pricey too. Like Kristina said, Old Navy has some good stuff (I didnt find out about them or maybe they didnt get it in stores down here until my 2nd). Good luck finding new stuff.

TARGET was always my fav for shirts and I always found really cute pants that worked at Shopko. I never paid attention to the return policy at Motherhood Maternity but I just thought they were too pricey and over-rated!

The only thing I like about Motherhood Maternity is you don't have to look all over a huge store and go through all the cute little outfits you know you won't be wearing for another year just to find the miniscule maternity section! That being said, yeah I hate the prices. Maternity clothing should be cheaper just for the fact that you won't be wearing them for all that long! and that "gift certificate" deal is unbelievable! What a bunch of crooks. They're just looking to make a dishonest dollar off poor preggy ladies!

I hated Target's maternity clothes. They just always fit me real goofy. Old Navy was good but by far my favorite was Gap Maternity. If you shop clearance you can get some great deals and it is just as expensive as Motherhood Maternity.
I bought the maternity tank tops and I still wore them even when I wasn't pregnant because they were that comfortable. I wore them under everything even my pre-pregnancy shirts and I would just leave them open.
Good luck. It always sucks to spend all that money and only wear them a short time.

I hated buying clothes when I was pregnany...well I just hate buying myself clothes in general... They would look really cute on-line or on the hanger, but when I put them on, yuck. I wish I was one of those "cute pregnant ladies" but I'm not. So I just wore whatever. I also bought very few things from Motherhood for any of my pregnancies. I liked Target and Old Navy. Seems like I always see the cutest stuff when I DON"T need it, it's for the wrong season, or after I've already purchased something else. Arg!!!

Oh, Evonne! You've got to head over to Macy's and check out their sale racks. Seriously, I love their maternity section! Rockin' clothing that really looks nice, washes well and lasts. I've had good luck at SouthTowne and Cottonwood mall's Macy's. I think the brand is "Mimi Maternity" and it's the nicer than Motherhood brand, though they are connected somehow (kinda like gap and old navy). It rocks.

My favs are from Old Navy and Target. But I also found some cute stuff at Sears, but that was what 4 and a half years ago, man alive....

Good luck!

Evonne, do you know Kohl's carries Motherhood Maternity clothes? Their return policy is much more lenient. They go on sale quite a bit there too. I'm trying to decide if I can justify spending any more money on maternity clothes with 3 months to go.
