advice. because we all like to give it.

Let's face it when you only have a child every 5 1/2 years...it is like starting all over again. I have asked probably just as many questions this time around as I did with Van. Just because I have one, doesn't make me a pro at it...
I swear there is a billion baby products out there. I feel overwhelmed and lost every time I go to the baby section. I can't even seem to fall in love with most of the clothing. sigh.
I saved a few things from Van for Vin...but most things have already been passed on to my nieces, thrown away during our last move...or sold.
Paul swore that we needed a swing for Van. We bought it. We assembled it. She HATED IT! I didn't even remove the tags. We are crossing our fingers that we get some use out of it this time around. Right now Van's baby is loving it. ;)
This is where I need your help. There is a lot of baby products out there, and a lot of stuff we need. What do you swear by? What do you think would make bringing home baby #2 easier? Give me what you think needs to be on my list of stuff to buy.

I love Burt's Bees Baby Bee Buttermilk lotion. It smells good and does wonders on baby skin. Our pediatrician ranted and raved about son's skin and how great it looked.

I also got Happiest baby on the block DVD from the library and boy did it save us! It has good tricks for calming babies that totally worked for us.

This is such a hard question since every baby's different. As far as bigger items go (bouncy seats, swings, Exersaucers, Bumbo seats, etc.) we always passed these around to each other. That way you could find out if your child really likes it before shelling out the money. I remember one Exersaucer in particular that almost every baby in our ward used!

I do love a good diaper bag, so find one you love and buy it! My favorite is my Amy Michelle Gladiola bag (in red patent). I got more compliments on it as a handbag than a diaper bag!

What else? Our Diaper Genie II has been a dream for two kids so far and of course stock up on the onesies and jammies for those first couple months. You must remember all the clothing changes, right?!?! I never did use a nursing cover but I know a lot of people love those. OH! And a JJ Cole BundleMe for cold weather is THE BEST!!!

Every single one of my babies loved our swing. LOVED. For 2 of them, it was literally the source of our sanity!

If you are nursing, Lansinoh Products, specifically the breast pads, are my favorite. I never buy anything else.

One thing I have learned is that you need about 4 things in the baby aisle. The rest of it is extra. You don't need a wipes warmer. You don't need special nail clippers. (They don't work anyway.)

That's my take on things. As long as you have lots of burp cloths (cloth diapers are the best), onesies and blankets, you are good!

Brynlee LOOOOVED her Jumperoo. It's Fisher Price and fun and cute and everyone gets a good laugh at how crazy she jumps and how much fun she has. a lot of babies I know has one and LOVES it! But I would suggest to get for like a 4th of July present haha.. something like that because there is no need for it until 5-6 months old. :)

oh and also, I really really loved the bedtime bath and lotion. It smells great and I really felt like it helped Brynlee sleep better!

I'm totally with you!! And my boys are SO different, we had to take away William's binky, but Matthew hated it and wouldn't take one.... But one thing that I know for sure is a good bouncy chair... Both boys liked those, other than that you will have to let me know.... Oh I can make you some burp clothes made from cloth diapers if you would like, I know those are a must have too...

I really can't think of many products that we ALWAYS used with our kids besides the obvious/already mentioned burp cloths and such. All of my kids except one LOVED the swing.

The one thing that was the MOST helpful to us was knowing how to swaddle/wrap a baby (so their arms can't get out). Mark is a PRO and it helped our babies sleep much longer at a time. I know they make blankets specifically for swaddling now, but I never had one of those.

Hmmm... was 2 years ago, so I can't really remember everything. Although, I did like the Babywise concept - especially during the newborn stage - of scheduling feeings/sleeping/awake time. It helped both baby and I get on a routine where I felt like I could get back to "life" again!
Good luck! :)

Zout stain remover. And lots of it. THICK burp cloths, the cloth diaper ones (NOT the flimsy, thin ones). A bouncer. That was amazing. That's all I remember. Even 2 years is long enough to completely forget everything!

I definitely am going to try one of those nursing covers the next time around, though. Using a blanket was not always the best experience.

Every baby likes something different, cause they like to spend our mula ;) Some like swings, some like vibrating bouncy chairs (although I have found lots of them do, email me about this), some like the circular play things, some love their high chairs. Some love being warm some like it cool. Some like music some love white noise it is just so weird! But for nursing we need to go to motherhood maternity miss.

It has been 10 years, but the thing that I LoVeD the most was the big washcloths to keep them warm in the tub with and the Lavendar smelly stuff... Johnson & Johnson should really consider selling that by the gallon... and not just for babies, it helped both of us calm down after a long day of .... ya know.... life in babyland! I luv ya to the moon & back-
