Colors!

Some of you may know I have had a suspicion that Savannah might be color blind. Paul at first didn't believe me, but after working endless amounts of hours with her...she still doesn't get it. I have taken many suggestions on what to do with her, still with no success. Today I was making her lunch, and decided to make one last attempt to help her. I decided to do a "color lunch". Mac & Cheese, an orange, orange PowerAde, orange lollipop, and a pumpkin place mat. I also sent her to her room to find something orange to wear for lunch, and I went to my room and put some orange shorts on to get in the mood with her. =) IT WORKED! She can now tell you what orange is! I am going to have to get REALLY creative for such colors like black and pink! Give me suggestion if you have any. There is hope for Savannah learning her colors after all. Do you know how excited I am about this?! A girl has got to know her colors...can you imagine her not being able to accessorize. =) Yeah, for Savannah knowing the color ORANGE!!

P.S. I think one of the funniest stories about Savannah learning her colors has got to be her playing Candyland with my Dad. My Dad tried telling her jokes...and to this day she still says "Green, Green, Green" like a phone is ringing. Too bad she points at yellow, and says it! lol ( Thanks Dad!)

I hope...I am feeling very frustrated. Somehow my kid can catch on to every naughty word and she can tell you how a baby is born from one glimpse of A Baby Story, but can't figure out colors. What is up with that?

You are very creative!! I love the feeling when your child figures something out. It's like their accomplishment is your own.

I remember when Andy was learning his colors whenever I would tell him what color something was, I would say "That train is green...like grass" and so forth. It made it so everytime he was able to see in his mind two things the same color and he got the concept very fast. Since he is obsessed with trains and they are all different colors that helped too. Another thing I did was make a big pile of like 3 different colors of things and have him separate them out into the different colors. That didn't help him know the names, but it helped him differentiate between them.

I bet she will learn them so fast now that she got orange. That one was the hardest one for Andy to learn.

I've been struggling with Andy going poo on the toilet. He has been potty-trained for a long time, but has always refused to go poop on the toilet. He has gone both today and yesterday for me and it's been so exciting!! I can't believe I've been so excited about poop!
