the deets.

I was good at keeping track of everything while in labor...that was until things went horrid!! Here is the juicy details of the day Vin was born.
BFF and I arrived at the hospital at 6:30 AM
We giggled.
We "tried" to watch a movie.
We listened to music.
BFF took me on a ride in a wheel chair.
We waited for the nurses to get their act together, and start the pitocin.
What a waste of 2 plus hours before they finally decided they had time to do it.

9:20 dilated to a 4.
Dr. came in and "tried to break my water".
I also called Paul to come to the hospital at this point.
11:15 dilated to a 6.
Epidural is put in.
Paul was brave and held my hand during it. I love him more because he did that!

12:50 dilated to a 7.
AND the rest is painful and foggy.

I started not feeling right. I started to feel labor. I kept telling the nurses, but no one was listening. It went on for more than an hour. I was acting crazy, my poor husband. It was intense. I was in so much pain, I almost passed out. I finally told Paul that I was just going to start pushing, and Paul not knowing better told me to. The nurses must have been listening to us "plotting"...because just as the words left his mouth of "go ahead"...nurses came running in screaming "Don't PUSH!" It ended up being what finally got me help, and they finally started to listen.
My epidural got a kink in it, and you know what that means? No meds going in. I was given options, I chose all of the "easier" options, and finally they had to give me another epidural. It was hard. I cried. a. lot.

After all of this.
I delivered Vin at 4:00 PM on the dot.

10 pushes in 4 contractions.

He is worth all of it, but I'm not sure I will ever forget how hard this pregnancy all the way to delivery was.

That is a great story! You just made me SO happy to have to have a c-section.... There is pain with c-sections but it doesn't last long...

You poor, poor thing! Yes, he is so worth it but still, your story makes every last inch of me (inside and out) cringe. Gotta love the "Don't push!" from the nurses. That's a nearly impossible thing to do!

Oh man. Sorry the epidural catheter kinked! I have to say, it is funny as an L&D nurse to read people's birth stories. Love the nurse's "Don't push" reaction. Don't you just want to say, "Yeah right!"

You look great though! I had a witch nurse my last go around. She was so mean even my doctor kicked her out.

You look FAR too cute for a lady in crappy labor! Very unfair. I always look like a sweaty pig mess... even worse when I'm having a baby ;).
